Ended with some old school floor exerises and more yoga poses. Felt like I could have done more on the deadlift-- may up it next time.

Doing the shoulder presses with 20# was at the outer limits of my ability, but it felt good to push myself.

I have been feeling crampy since I started taking the thyroid meds, almost like I will get a period. I only had two last year and haven't had one since July. Been thinking that I am done with that, but we'll see....

I am upping my protein somewhat and will be getting some Vitamin D and calcium suppliments per the suggestion of Greta at BigBottomBlogger.

For that women's Fitness Challenge I am doing I need to get a starting pic and my stats up by Monday-- so I think I will just make that my progress report for here- a little early, and start making these coincide each month to make things easier on myself.

These will also be starting stats and pics for the Perfect 10 Challenge. So look for a progress report within the next few days!

I am all set to watch the biggest loser tonight! Yahhoo!

  5. What is a DB Shoulder Press? Is that like a military press?

I just finsihed reading Pavel's "Power to the People"...I'd love to know your take on it. He would suggest that you up the weight a LOT....and decrease the reps by a lot (never more than 5 and never to exhaustion). It is an interesting concept that he fully explains in his book...with some very amusing (to me, anyway) dry wit and humor.

SO GLAD you are doing more D. Esp with the thyroid thing. And protein, too. Your brain needs the amino acids to produce all hormones....including thyroid. And...I am going to go out on a limb and guess that you have WAY more muscle mass than the average woman...which means your protein requirements are higher. :)

  8. nm..figured it out..... DB=dumbell. Just looked in my book.

VERY nice workout, my dear. Today is a rest day for me but I have been cheating a bit and doing pushups all over the house like a crazy person...LOL. Not real ones, yet....ones on the back of the couch (incline), on the edge of my son's bed at prayer time....etc. The lowest I have gone is the cedar chest--and I can only do about 5. I must be getting closer to a real one, tho...right? Sigh. :) One day at a time. (and, clearly, I have a touch of OCD)

  10. Great workout! Like you, I'm a big, strong woman and inclined to push myself to my limits! If you feel you can do more with the deadlift without hurting yourself then go for it! There were men at the gym who were gutted I could leg press (in the days before I discovered squats with deadlifts!) 120kg (about 265lbs) with no trouble at all. But then, my legs were used to carrying around a lot more than that on a daily basis!

    Yoga is fab!

  11. Thank you for writing about the signs of thyroid. I don't know if I have it, but made an appointment (Feb) to get it checked out. I have all the symptoms except the blood test comes back negative. Your symptoms made me go look to see if I could have it with a neg. blood test. We shall see.

    Good job on the weights.
